Chicago

September 1 – 25, 2008

Over 25 days in length, RedBall Chicago was one of the most ambitious performances to date covering an incredible range of sites. As a Chicago native, Kurt Perschke pulled out all the stops including epic installations on the landmark La Salle Bridge and playfully inside Calder’s Flamigo at Federal Plaza.

RedBall Project Chicago was sponsored by Target in partnership with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs’ Public Art Program.

“One of the important aspects of public art is its ability to cause people to pause and think,” said Nathan Mason, Special Projects Curator for the Public Art Program. “It promotes conversations between strangers and neighbors and prompts the public’s curiosity.”

“Through our partnership with artist Kurt Perschke and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, we hope to foster an appreciation and understanding of various points of view through the one-of-a-kind RedBall Project architectural installations.” – Laysha Ward, vice president, community relations, Target.
