Working in museum, gallery and public settings Kurt Perschke pursues ideas about sculptural presence and the visualization of environments. Projects such as RedBall seek to translate that ephemeral experience into a public context, while video animations like the Momentary Geometry Series pursue it more idiosyncratically.

Kurt Perschke’s public projects have taken place in Barcelona, St. Louis, Portland, Sydney, Arizona, Chicago and received a national award from Americans for the Arts Public Art Network. He has worked with Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, been commissioned by the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, and participated in the Busan Biennale in 2006 as part of the Contemporary Art Projects, the only American invited. His video work Momentary Geometry Series has been screened in Europe and the US and as an AIM fellow at the Bronx Museum. Recent residencies include Jacob’s Pillow, MANCC, and Kala Institute. A native of Chicago he is based in New York. In 2009 He will be creating his first dance set for choreographer Kate Weare's New York season. RedBall Toronto is scheduled for June 2009. A book and film about the project are in production.

Other works include St. Louis Brick a commissioned artist book edition from the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, a Dave Muller Three Day Weekend, and ongoing studio work. Born in Chicago and based in Manhattan, Kurt Perschke has also lived in the Virgin Islands, St. Louis, Vienna, and Cairo, Egypt.
