Thanks to everyone who helped out in large and small ways in making RedBall a reality in Scottsdale, especially the SPA staff. Diana Fisher was the project coordinator for SPA and was at every site, every time helping to install, chat with locals, and keep everything on track. She also happens to be a rockin’ roller derby girl, able to apply a swift body check when needed. Jesse Perry, the SPA jack-of-all-trades, was always there to help, at least after he got some coffee. And he discovered hidden talents as a ball jumper and upside-down scissor lift operator. Uber-RedBall Assistant and Portland artist Scott Mazariegos was luckily on hand to ply his ways with the vinyl, video the project, put up with grumpy Kurt, and lend that special ‘Scottyness’ to cooking, beer connoisseurship and taqueria hunting.
Special thanks to Valerie Vadala Homer, Director of Scottsdale Public Art, for bringing the project to her town, being a pleasure to work with, and allowing me the occasional corrupting influence at the bar.
Warm thanks to Janie for her hospitality and desert stories; and all the folks at CattleTrack for making us welcome. Brent Bond at Segura Press for a great set of prints, and for taking me to a bar where his first thought was to look for the back door.
