York Alley

This sunny Sunday afternoon brought visitors to greet RedBall at the east end of York Alley staring out to the Norwich Castle. York Alley had the advantage of offering people a dual perspective today–the open sidewalk and the tight hidden alley.

York Alley seems to be extremely popular with the locals–so much so that when seeing it on RedBall’s schedule these past few days no one seemed to know where it was. When the time came that RedBall actually went up in the alley, it took quite a few people out of their routine of passage to their destination via a “detour.” The connection was made, and a familiar place was recognized by a name.

Parents were taking an active role to talk with their children about RedBall. It turned out to be the children who challenged the ball the most today with “I know what’s on the outside–a red ball! What’s on the inside,” “If we move the buildings will it fly away,” and “what other shapes can [RedBall] make”? These questions and more are fielded by our team of great volunteers. “Why a red ball?” Why not a red ball? We dare to be challenged.
